In Mauritius, I didn’t really get to see minivans and Kei-cars (660cc minicars) which are very popular in Japan. They are selling well since Japan is stuck in recession. Do you know why?

Minivans are popular for families with kids under elementary school.
|
|
|

Because;
|
|
|

1, Family can get in together and put luggage as well.
|
|
|
|
|
|
2, No need to buy 2 cars for yourself and your wife.
|
|
|
|
|
|
3, It is easier for elderly parents to get in. They may offer financial help to buy a car.
|
|
|
|
|
|
4, It is easy to park with high driver’s seat.
|
|
|
|
|
|
5, Passengers can relax on its wide rear seat.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
“Which do you like cool fancy cars or minivans?”
If we ask this question under elementary school kids, they all answer “minivans” for 100% sure.

|
|
|
|
|
|
Actually I also have a minivan, Toyota Alfard. I have 1 year and 4 year kids.
They behave well for hours watching DVD or TV with rear monitor at the rear seat.

|
|
|
|
Meanwhile, Kei-cars are popular for elderly, single, or family who needs several units.
|
|
|
|
|

Because;

1, It costs less for tax and insurance. On top of that, upkeep is cheap since gas mileage is good.
|
|
|
|
|
|
2, Some people sell his car and instead buy 2 Kei-cars for his wife and kids
|
|
|
|
|
|
3, Elderly and single take a ride with 2 pepole and little luggage.
|
|
|
|
|
|
4, Owners of Fit & Vits have changed into Kei-cars.
|
|
|
|
|
|
5, It is easy to drive and needless to park in a big lot.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
For business use, I mainly use Kei-cars. It is very useful to get around frequently by myself. Even if the road is narrow, Kei-cars can go in safely.

Formerly, a station wagon which is a mix of car and carrier, for example, Corolla Fielder, were popular.
Also, Vitz and Fit were also popular because of its compact size. Now, people want to buy a car either enough big or enough small.

I used to have a big car as I liked luxury cars in order to carry customers. I thought it was comfortable for them with wide rear seats. But I find out they like minivans better. In fact, now celebrities and politicians of Japan use minivans more than luxury limos.

There are differences in tax and use of cars between Japan and Mauritius.
I like cars and Mauritius. I would like to introduce new cars and boost potential demand.
|

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Tiida, Vitz, Swift and Fit are all good cars as they are very popular in Japan.
However, I’m sure there are many other cars which can play an important role in Mauritius.

It’s been Toyota Prius mostly sold out for new car sales in Japan.
Second place is taken by Honda Fit, while Toyota Vitz is following in third place.
These 2 units are also very popular in Mauritius.

In December, 2010, Toyota Vitz has been fully changed after half a decade.
Compared to Honda Fit, the weakest point of Toyota Vitz is its inner space.
For Honda Fit, tall guests can easily sit on the rear sheet even though the driver is also the same tall.
On top pf that, Honda Fit still has enough space for luggage.

On the other hand, it is very small and narrow at the rear sheet if the driver is tall for previous Vitz.
Now, new Vitz become better and users of previous model can feel its space wide open.
Still it is not good enough compared to Honda Fit.

Originally Vitz was made for European market. In Japan, it is popular among young Japanese women by its cute style.New model change its style into more muscular and shift its target to overseas users and men’s users in Japan.

On the way to a hotel from airport, I could get to see the town
When I saw the beautiful sea of Mauritius, I instantly liked this country.
|
|
|

|
|
|
Though I came to Mauritius for business, I wanted to know more about this country and decided to look around the town first. I tried Mauritian food and went fishing & shopping. Also, I rent a car and explored this island by myself. The more I see of them, the more I like Mauritius and get interested,

|
Because,

|
|
1, Mauritius is also an island country like Japan.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
2, People of Mauritius enjoy all the blessing of nature.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
3, People of Mauritius keep promise and have regards to others.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
4, People of Mauritius are very easy going and always nice to others.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
I find out that there are no other countries close to Japan in the way of thinking.
Even in same Asian countries, in my opinion, it is only South Korea familiar to Japan.
I am very surprised that I feel so many similarities to a country so far away.

|
|
|
|
|
I would like to visit Mauritius again and make this business succeed.
Mauritius is one of the best places to export cars.
